Survival Training is all about a strategy. After a war or large-scale disaster such as a major drought or disease outbreak, several stages typically occur while individuals, societies, and communities strive to recover and rebuild. Numerous earthquakes have ruptured in Haiti since 2009. More recently (February 2023), Türkiye, Syria had catastrophic damage from an earthquake that measured about 7.5 on the Richter Scale. More than 3,000 people were killed and over 6,000 homes and buildings were destroyed. There are many examples I could use. Although the specific timeline and processes can vary depending on the circumstances, following are common stages that often take place during recovery: emergency response, humanitarian assistance, recovery and reconstruction, and development. Each is explained in more detail below.
1. Emergency Response: In the immediate aftermath of a disaster or war, the first stage involves emergency response efforts. This includes search and rescue operations, providing medical aid to the injured, distributing food, water, and essential supplies, and ensuring the safety and security of affected individuals.
2. Relief and Humanitarian Assistance: Once the initial emergency response is underway, relief organizations and governments provide ongoing humanitarian assistance to the affected population. This includes setting up temporary shelters, establishing feeding programs, delivering medical care, and addressing immediate needs for water, sanitation, and hygiene.
3. Recovery and Reconstruction: As the situation stabilizes, the focus shifts towards long-term recovery and reconstruction. This stage involves rebuilding infrastructure such as homes, schools, hospitals, and roads that were damaged or destroyed during the disaster. Efforts are made to restore essential services like electricity, water supply, and communication systems.
4. Rehabilitation and Development: The rehabilitation stage involves restoring normalcy and helping affected individuals and communities regain their livelihoods. This may include providing vocational training, creating job opportunities, supporting agriculture and other economic activities, and offering psychosocial support to those who have experienced trauma.
5. Governance and Institution Building: As the recovery progresses, attention is directed toward strengthening governance structures and institutions. This involves rebuilding or establishing government systems, ensuring the rule of law, promoting transparency and accountability, and enhancing the capacity of local authorities to handle future crises effectively.
6. Community Resilience and Preparedness: Recognizing the importance of preparedness, efforts are made to improve community resilience against future disasters. This includes implementing early warning systems, conducting disaster risk reduction initiatives, educating communities about disaster preparedness and response, and fostering a culture of resilience.
7. Long-term Development: Finally, the long-term development stage focuses on sustainable development and addressing the underlying causes that made the population vulnerable to the disaster. It involves initiatives to reduce poverty, promote education, improve healthcare systems, enhance infrastructure, and create opportunities for economic growth.
The above phases are what occur in an industrial society after a typical disaster. But what happens when a major war or environmental disaster strikes at such a level that causes banking collapse, implosion of government, or huge environmental changes? Such enormous catastrophes will be followed by famine, starvation, and disease. Potentially millions will die. It is written throughout the history of the world.
If the reader will look back on Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the entire city fell and it took days, which turned into weeks for the government to get the results of the disaster under control. That was what we call a localized disaster. What happens when the disaster is regional or countrywide? This is what you need to prepare for. I’d like you to do a little research on the effects of WWII on Europe. The entire region was devastated. It took decades for each country to recover fully. How did the people survive the aftermath? The U.S. has not faced such chaos but will soon.
The government of the United States will fall because the country has been put upon a path of lawlessness, corruption, and crime on such a scale that is too late to stop without implementing national martial law. The face of the bravest hero will pale when they realize what is coming. You need to study the results of such events. Use the above example as a starting point. How will you survive no gas, no electricity, no food supply lines, no communications, and so forth? I am often asked if I would buy stock, invest in gold or silver, or another commodity. When the calamity I speak of comes, you will be unable to use gold or silver to buy food. Only an idiot would trade their loaves of bread for a wheelbarrow of gold when there is no where to spend it and the entire government and banks have completely collapsed! You must think critically and strategically. My suggestion is that you invest in food and bullets! Would you like to know more? Have a safe day.
